IESS to host 2019 CReWAS Conference

The Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies (IESS), University of Ghana in collaboration with the United Nations University-MERIT, under the aegis of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) will host the Climate Resilience and Waste Management for Sustainable Development (CReWAS) Conference. The CReWAS Conference, slated for October 16-17, 2019 seeks to bring together experienced researchers, young scholars, academics, policymakers, private sector and civil society groups to discuss and share ideas, research findings and innovative models on key aspects of climate resilience and waste management for sustainable development. The Conference will also feature a special workshop of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), organised by the United Nations University-MERIT on “A cross-National Study of Urban Solid Waste Management: Learning and Way Forward”.

Innovative concepts, decision support tools and prototype technologies for climate resilience and waste management can be showcased at the conference. Accepted abstracts will be published in a “Book of Abstracts”. Relevant papers will also be selected after the conference and published in a Special Issue of West African Journal of Applied Ecology (WAJAE). Poster sessions would be held in parallel. A plenary session will climax the event.

You are hereby invited to submit Abstracts for the CReWAS Conference which will focus on the following topics:

  • Climate smart agriculture
  • Enhancing resilience in the coastal zone
  • Solid waste research and management
  • Liquid waste, sanitation and hygiene research and management
  • Resource use efficiency and circular economy
  • Sustainable production and consumption
  • Green entrepreneurship
  • Information systems for environmental management
