MPhil Environmental Science Programme (2015/2016)

Sulemana Abdul-Karim was enrolled on the Mphil Environmental Science Programme in 2015. He holds a BA in Geography and Resource Development from the University of Ghana. He has also undertaken an undergraduate Diploma course in Basic Education and has a wealth of experience in research, leadership, Environmental Impact Assessment, advocacy and teaching with a broad base of transferable skills.

He worked with a team from Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) on the Kumasi-Bolgatanga Power Pylon Project, to carry out an AfDB funded District and Community Level Stakeholder consultations on the environmental influence of the 330kV transmission line’s Right Of Way and the development of a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP).

He also served on the team that developed and implemented the Grievance Redress Mechanisms Project Affected Persons along Mim-Asawinso-Juaboso Transmission Line project in Western region of Ghana. During the process he reviewed many Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) reports for the company.

His research interest includes: Sustainable Development and Climate Change Adaptation; Natural Resource Management; Shea Nut Value Chain Analysis and Poverty Alleviation in Rural Areas.
