BC5 is a 5-year (2022-2027) collaborative research between the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), the University of Ghana (UG), and the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Tanzania. The project focuses on understanding the combined effects of pollution and climate change on coastal ecosystems, with an emphasis on education and capacity building for sustainable coastal resource management in Ghana and Tanzania.

Objectives 

  • Strengthen research and education on the impacts of climate change and pollution.
  • Develop training programs and curriculum on coastal ecosystem sustainability.
  • Investigate the multi-stressor effects of pollution and climate change.
  • Enhance students' research, communication, and technical skills.

Methodology

  • Fieldwork, experimental studies, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Multi-stressor analysis combining climatic and non-climatic factors.
  • Research-based education and capacity-building programs.
