Principal Technician
Mr. Prince Owusu is a highly accomplished Principal Laboratory Technician. With over 25 years of specialized experience, he has become a cornerstone of the IESS’s research infrastructure. Beyond technical execution, Prince is deeply committed to laboratory excellence and rigorous quality standards. He is proficient in ISO/IEC 17025:2017 protocols and laboratory quality assurance, ensuring that all research outputs meet international standards. By combining decades of hands-on procedural expertise with a proactive approach to project management and safety, Prince provides essential support to the university’s mission of environmental stewardship and academic innovation.
Research Areas
His expertise spans a wide array of environmental and agricultural matrices, including soil, plant, food, and water analysis. Notably, Prince is a leading specialist in Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS), having refined his technical mastery through advanced international training at prestigious institutions such as RWTH Aachen University in Germany, Imperial College London and the International Institution of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria. His contributions to the scientific community are reflected in his extensive publication record, covering critical issues such as heavy metal contamination, water quality impacts from mining, and food safety in local ecosystems.
