Environmental scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Francis Adarwah is an Environmental scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher under the CASCADE project at the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies (IESS), University of Ghana. He brings over 20 years of interdisciplinary experience in climate adaptation, ecosystem management, and sustainable livelihood research across Ghana’s coastal, forest, and agricultural landscapes.

CASCADE: His postdoctoral work under the CASCADE project aligns with the project’s core pillars, focusing on strengthening climate-health linkages, enhancing environmental and air-quality monitoring, and supporting the development of community-responsive early warning and risk communication systems. 

Research Interests

His research work focuses on climate change and health, land-use change and ecotoxicology, as well as wetland conservation. Through these research streams, Dr. Adarkwah provides evidence-based insights that shape national policy dialogues, community interventions, and climate-resilience programming. He has published extensively on climate impacts, environmental health, and ecosystem services in reputable peer-reviewed journals, including Heliyon, Scientific African, and other international outlets.
