Ghana - Italy Collaboration Drives Workshop on Rainfall Prediction and Soil Water Management in Accra
UG and Italian University Host Workshop on Rainfall Prediction for Agriculture

The Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies (IESS) at the University of Ghana, in collaboration with Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, University of Pisa, Italy, held a two-day training workshop in Accra on March 26 and 27, 2026.

The workshop, themed "Predicting Rainy Season Characteristics and Soil Water Balance for Agriculture," took place at the Erata Hotel and brought together students, academics, and dignitaries including IESS Director Professor Daniel Nukpezah, Italian Ambassador to Ghana Her Excellency Dr. Laura Ranalli, and Prof. Leonardo Caproni.

The training aimed at equipping participants with tools and knowledge to better predict seasonal rainfall patterns and manage soil water resources skills critical to improving agricultural planning in Ghana.
