Students taking turns to feed monkeys at the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary

This year’s field visit for first year students (PhD & Masters) of the Institute has taken place with students visiting various places of environmental interest in the Volta Region. Key among the places visited include the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, the Kpando Torkor river port, Wli Water falls, the Kalakpa resource reserve as well as the Diamond Cement Factory in Denu and the Keta Sea Defence (KSD) Project site in Keta.

The Team also paid a courtesy call on the Kpando Municipal Assembly and the Ho Municipal Assembly where the students and research fellows engaged the Assembly on issues of municipal waste management and environmental sanitation processes and challenges in the municipality. The team held open interactions with the managers of the various facilities and areas visited to come to terms with the opportunities, operational procedures and constraints associated with the management of environmental and natural resources.
