Profile of Presenter

Prof. Paul J. Oberholster

Prof. Paul J. Oberholster is Chief Scientist in Source control & remediation scientific measures, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) South Africa. His areas of expertise are in Restoration of ecological infrastructure and Integrated Water Resource Management. He also holds position as (1) Extra ordinary associate Professor Dept. Botany and Zoology, Faculty of Natural Science, University of Stellenbosch, (2) Extra ordinary lecturer Dept. of Paraclinical Science, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa (3) Extra ordinary Professor Dept. Earth Science, Faculty of Natural Science, University of Western Cape. (4) Director: Chair of Water quality and Food security, TAU/CSIR.

Prof. Oberholster has served as Principal Scientist, Water Ecosystem and Human Health Group at the Universities of Pretoria and Stellenbosch where he was involved in securing funds for large integrated projects and programs; managing research budget and forecasting, managing laboratories and a multi-disciplinary research group as well as post doc’s and students on daily bases. Leadership role: Business Unit NRE RAP (Research advisory panel) and SET (Science, Engineering and Technology). Stakeholder engagement: private sector, local and national government, International agencies e.g. AU, African Development Bank.
