IESS Host a Delegation of Faculty Members from Three Universities in Benin

The Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies( IESS) in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Science and Technology and Technology, Development and Transfer Center, ORID, hosted a delegation of 13 Faculty Members of University of Benin, Cotonou on 10thAugust 2015 at the conference room of Collage of Basic and Applied Science.

The purpose of the meeting was to enable the delegation learn about the experiences of IESS in public- private partnership and particularly the Special Treat Project under the Ghana Wash Window.

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Chris Gordon welcomed the delegation presented the general workings of the Insitute and its involvement in private public engagements.  Prof. Sammy Sackey also presented a profile of the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) and indicated that IAST is established to bridge the gap between industry and academia.  He outlined the processes the University engaged with industry and their involvement in incubators.  Mrs. Diana Owusu-Antwi of TDTC, ORID also provided an overview of the ORID and TDTC and Dr. Dzidzo made a presentation on the Special Treat Project under the Ghana WASH Window and shared experiences and processes of IESS engagement in PPP. She emphasized the need for networking, partner risk assessment and contractual agreement among others.  She indicated the Special Treat Project ia a 6 million Euro project for 5 years.  Project Partners are MDF Training and Consultancy, Ga- West, Ga-Central and Nswam Adoagyiri Municipalities, IESS, Kojay and Gieling Consultancy BV.
